Do Not Sleep On These Three Rookie Wide Receivers going into 2025
With the NFL season only a month away, we have seen the rookies get more integrated with their teams throughout OTA’s and training camp. Here are the three rookie wide receivers I believe that will breakout for fantasy football in 2025.
Jayden Higgins (Houston Texans)
Lots of people might not know this name but he was a 2nd round pick in the 2025 NFL draft. He played at Iowa state and really broke out in 2024. He had 87 receptions, 1183 receiving yards, a 29.4% team target share, and 9 receiving TDs. These stats are elite for just 13 games played, and Jayden Higgins is another big body receiver being at 6’4” and has 4.47 40 yard dash.
He is tall, fast, and explosive capabilities just like Nico Collins. Jayden Higgins won’t be the WR1, but I think he makes a case for being a strong WR2 on the Houston Texans. Let’s not forget that Vegas is projecting Houston to be one of the most pass heavy offenses and this could be extremely lucrative for a guy like Jayden Higgins.
We also have unofficial confirmation that he will be a starting receiver for the Texans.
Emeka Egbuka (Tampa Bay Buccaneers)
Egbuka might just be the most pro ready receiver coming into the NFL. There have been only great things said about him coming out of OTA’s and training camp. So far he has been the most targeted receiver even out targeting Mike Evans during the offseason training.
With Chris Godwin’s uncertainty this really is opening up the door for Emeka Egbuka. Let’s not forget that when Godwin was healthy last year he was the WR2 overall on a PPG basis, and if Egbuka gets that starting role, not saying he will be as high as the WR2 overall, but the point is is that he could be a very high target earner.
Tetairoa McMillan (Carolina Panthers)
This is already baked into my rankings at the wide receiver position, but you don’t spend the 8th overall pick in the NFL draft on a wide receiver without planning to utilize him. McMillan is walking into a situation where this team desperately needs a WR1. McMillan is exactly that, he is another big body receiver being at 6’4” and he should dominate targets every where on the field including the redzone and endzone. Target Tetairoa McMillan in fantasy drafts as I think he will pay off at his cost.
If you made it this far, I really appreciate you tuning in. I will catch you in the next one.
