What Vegas is secretly telling you about Fantasy Football QB edition

Fantasy Football is like betting. We make projections on who is going to finish first, and all the way to last. Vegas sportsbooks just released their player props on all the players in the NFL. It's not that Vegas sportsbooks should be the only factor we consider when evaluating players in fantasy football, but they are essentially giving us their thoughts on who is going to perform well or poorly, based on the player prop.

Dak Prescott

Dak Prescott has an O/U of 3875.5 Passing yards. This is inside the top 5 from Vegas in passing yard projections, and this is going right in line with what I have been saying about CeeDee Lamb, George Pickens, and Dak Prescott included.

Judging by the backfield on the Dallas Cowboys of Javonte Williams, Miles Sanders, and rookie Jaydon Blue, doesn't seem like the Cowboys have that much firepower. The Cowboys will be pass-heavy once again.

Vegas is secretly telling us to invest in Dak Prescott, CeeDee Lamb, and George Pickens for fantasy football. I am not hiding the fact that all of these players have league-winning potential.

Are you in or out on Dak Prescott for 2025?

J.J. McCarthy

J.J. McCarthy has an O/U of 3650.5 passing yards. This will be J.J. McCarthy's true rookie season since he has not played a game in the NFL, but don't let this deter you from J.J. McCarthy.

There are doubters of J.J. McCarthy out there who will examine his college performance and wonder if he can support this Vikings offense. Vegas is indicating that J.J. McCarthy will be able to do so, as this is nearly within the top 12 among all QBs for projections (13th).

I have been calling J.J. McCarthy a sleeper in fantasy as he goes very late among all QBs, but Vegas is telling us J.J. McCarthy will produce, and he will. He is free in fantasy drafts.

Will J.J. McCarthy hit the over on his projection?

Trevor Lawrence

Trevor Lawrence has an O/U of 3650.5 passing yards. I haven't been calling Trevor Lawrence a sleeper in fantasy, but with Liam Coen now running the show as the new HC, there is some hidden upside here.

As someone who likes Brian Thomas Jr. in fantasy football, this is good for his outlook, as Vegas still believes that there is potential with the Jaguars' passing attack based on their projection.

Please do what you will with Trevor Lawrence, but as for Brian Thomas Jr., he is a WR1 overall candidate.

Brock Purdy

Brock Purdy has an O/U of 3850.5 passing yards. This is a high projection, which bodes well for the passing attack on this 49ers offense. Before we get into the passing attack, Brock Purdy is still a guy who I consider to be a QB1 in fantasy, so for him going in the later rounds, I think it's a nice value there.

Regarding this passing attack, Brandon Aiyuk does not have a clear roadmap for his recovery, and Jauan Jennings is also experiencing contract disputes. This leaves Ricky Pearsall and George Kittle as the only two reliable pass catchers on this offense right now.

As for Jauan Jennings, if he receives his contract extension, he could be a nice value in fantasy drafts. However, if he does not receive his contract extension, I would target Ricky Pearsall in fantasy drafts, especially since he is off the PUP list now. Vegas is telling us that the 49ers should be a very pass heavy offense in 2025.

Did Purdy deserve his contract extension?
